A new documentary presented by The Hill and Qualcomm brings together leading voices in 5G connectivity to discuss how farmers can achieve tremendous impacts in efficiency and food yields by utilizing 5G. The documentary is titled 5G Rising, and features Expeto CEO, Michael Anderson and 5G Open Innovation Lab Founder and General Partner, Jim Brisimitzis.
As discussed in the documentary, the number of 5G-powered applications of IoT and AI technologies in agriculture are virtually limitless. Anderson and Brisimitzis know this first hand thanks to ongoing collaborations at the 5G OILab with Expeto, other technology vendors and farmers to bring powerful 5G solutions to reality. From monitoring field conditions to tracking livestock to implementing autonomous machinery, 5G has the potential to change the face of agriculture as we know it – and not just for enormous industrial farms. Indeed, the benefits of this technology will extend to the smallest of family farms, creating powerful and affordable next-gen applications that are accessible to all.
With a global population increasingly on the rise, it is essential that the agriculture industry examines how it will evolve to meet unprecedented demand for food efficiently, affordably and sustainably. And as this documentary makes clear, 5G-enabled technologies present the most compelling solution to date.
